FOUNDATION - OASIS factory-made foundation panels have a 15 year warranty against water penetration and translate to walls with over twice the compressive strength of traditional -3000 psi- poured concrete. When sprayed with closed cell foam, R-Value* increases to over R-17, 20 times the value of conventional uninsulated 10” concrete foundation walls.
FRAMING - high strength I joists, LVL beams, and engineered material are utilized throughout. OSB sheathing and sub-floors used are stronger (with a structural 1 rating for greater resistance to wind and seismic loads) than commodity type OSB and plywood. Both sheathing and sub-floor carry a 50 year warranty.
SOLAR HOT WATER PANELS - From VELUX will produce 100% of the domestic hot water supply. In addition, solar hot water will be fully integrated with the geothermal heat pump system to complement indoor home heating requirements.
ROOF SYSTEM - ALLMET galvanized Steel Stone Coated Slate Roof with lifetime warranty - 81.5 % recycled steel - can withstand winds up to 120 MPH with an R-value of 4 -approximately ten times higher than the .44 R-value of asphalt shingle roofs that require replacement every 17 years.
SOLAR PV PANELS - installed by NEXAMP include 24 -190 Watt photovoltaic electric panels - 4.56 KW grid tied system. PV panels will be used to run the geothermal heat pump and most other electrical needs of the house.
RIGID FOAM INSULATION - adds a R-value of 6.5 to the building envelope.
WINDOWS - from MARVIN INTEGRITY line have many green components derived from silica sand, a safe and renewable resource. Marvin Integrity windows are manufactured using considerably less energy than aluminum or vinyl. Ultrex is also made from 10% recycled content and lasts decades longer than materials such as vinyl. Integrity windows are also glazed with low E II glass, exceeding Energy Star ratings. They also come with a 10 year warranty.
